Ottawa - The Sunrise Service has become an Ottawa Easter tradition; an opportunity to pray for those sitting in the seats of power. Presented by Mission Ottawa/Outaouais, it attracts more and more each year. Despite a freezing temperature some 200 worshippers turned out for this year's event, with a Salvation Army band achieving music miracles with numb fingers. Instead of Easter plattitudes we were fed with solid Christian food, Pastor Rick Reed exhorting those who had been saved by grace to go forth with good works. Clearly the audience was responsive and supportive of the noble call to continued minstry in Christ.

Rev David Crawley acted as emcee and sang with guitar (a second miracle in the cold) two worship songs, including a key change in the middle of There is a Redeemer that Melody Green would have been proud of. Rev Doug Ward's prayers were aimed straight at God's heart, and yet he was able to accommodate a phrase descriptive of tolling bells immediately after they did so at 7:30. Rev Barry Boucher was the fourth leader present from Moo. We honour greatly these four Christian leaders in our community for their passion and commitment.
